A report by the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation yesterday about landlords who became homeless during the COVID-19 pandemic has sparked a huge discussion on the American social news aggregation, Reddit. Several forums on reddit have been busy discussing this story, with one particular, r/canada, reaching almost a thousand replies as of this date.

The CBC report was about a woman who owned a home which was rented out, who due to her own circumstances needed a home to move into. She asked her tenants to move out following the strict requirements set by the Province of Ontario. However, because during the COVID pandemic no evictions were allowed in Ontario, the tenants refused to move out but also stopped paying rent. This action left the woman homeless for a year and a half fand owned $24,000 by her tenants.
